Sorry, but this newsletter will be only a one liner, more or less. Either there is simply too much going on, or I'm getting older and slower and can't keep up with everything.
I promise some interesting stuff for May/June though.
After waiting for over a year for an order to Browning for a left hand bolt action X Bolt Medallion rifle, I was recently informed by my dealer that they still don't have enough orders to justify a run of left hand actions????? They are now saying maybe sometime this fall, but no promises.
So, we are trying to move on to plan B!
After hearing the bad news from Browning, I decided to do some internet searching for the X Bolt I want. I found that the left hand X Bolts in any caliber are very scarce, and one in .280 Remington caliber, even more so.
I finally found one at a dealer in Houston, TX. The one they have in stock is the 'Hunter' rather than the 'Medallion' which is the less fancy version of this model. Anyway, I decided that I could live with the Hunter model as opposed to waiting another year for a Medallion. This rifle is the prize for being chosen Hunter Education Instructor of the Year last year, so the bulk of the cost is covered anyway.
My dealer was supposed to begin a dealer purchase of this rifle early this week, so hopefully the wait is close to being over.
My really good news is that the wait is over for the Cooper rifle I ordered last June. The rifle has been done for two or three weeks, but with Hunter Education Classes and other obligations, we haven't made the trip to Stevensville, MT to pick it up yet. That is due to change next week, and the pick up date is May 15th.
So, next time I hope to have a lot to say about the two new rifles, and we'll start the process of wringing them out to see how they shoot.
This months hillbilly wisdom comes from a compilation of facebook comments about Grandparents' wisest sayings:
"I'll try anything twice because I might have done it wrong the first time."
Well, It's time to shut down here, So . . . .
'Til next time, Keep 'em shootin' straight, shoot 'em often, and above all, BE SAFE!!!!!
